Remember this one? I wanted my first post for 2010 to be something of a milestone. I made the original concept for this image back in 08, I got a good reaction towards it, it even got me to see a couple free TOADIES shows. Anyway, I think my style has improved since 08, and its still developing. I also like the message behind it, life has a way of dragging us down sometimes. It could be the economy, It could be your health or the health of a loved one, maybe you lost a loved one, or maybe things just didn't turn out the way you expected. Life may seem overwhelming, but its our obligation as humans to cope to kick to scream and to survive.

PIXIES @ NYC

Yes! I saw The Pixies. They were amazing, it was like watching cartoon characters come to life. They played a bunch of B-sides at the beginning, which I appreciated, because it weeded out the true Pixies fans from the people who just wanted to hear "where is my mind". It happened in Manhattan on the 28th of November at 1am in the morning, a very late show. I have to admit I was tired, but once they hit the stage I felt 18 again. However they did not play "Vamos", "U-mass" or "Caribou", the 3 songs I was dying to hear that night, but they compensated with a bunch of other stuff that I didn't expect. I only had my phone with its crappy camera, so this is the best I could do as far as pictures. And below are some moleskins I made while on my long boring flight.

Well, here is Dragon VS Tiger . This is going on the back of a photo album my friend Scott Mann is putting together. I'm proud to say that everything on this was hand made by me with the help of anchor points in adobe illustrator, including the ornamental scrolly stuff, well everything except for the M. I used an old english font for that.

Also as a bonus, Here is an old vector album cover I made for myself. Its a bit of a self portrait. This was about 4 years ago, back when I was a solo artist. Making music by myself with my big orange robot.

Have you ever stumbled into a whole world of awesome you never knew existed? It happened to me about a week ago. I was flipping through channels and came across a silhouetted cowboy screaming over punk chords about American Astronauts. I was hooked. And what followed was the most inspiring movie I have scene in a long time. The movie is called "The American Austronaut", go watch it! The movie's plot is hard to explain, so I wont even try. Anyway the genius behind this whole thing is Cory McAbee. He and his band "The Billy Nayer Show" put down some really cool songs for the movie (My Fav is "Hey Boy Hey Boy"). Honestly it was the music combined with the black and white cinematography that did it for me. So naturally, I went and googled everything I could about this guy and his band. What I found is Stingray Sam, McAbee's new movie. So here is a quick illustration to show some appreciation for his awesomeness.

NEW BAND: BURNCOATE

I'm in a new band, we are called Burncoate and I'm really excited about it. We have recorded 3 songs that you can check out HERE. Please feel free to let us know what you think. We crave feedback. These songs will be available on iTunes in August along with a few others that we are working on, more info on that later. My last band (Billion Watts) unfortunately is no longer with us, we had some fun times, and a few ruff times. But its all awesome memories now.
